DESCRIPTION
The Bureau of Reclamation is investigating the Methow River from Winthrop to Twisp. The Reach Assessment addressess historic conditions, flood history, and side channel develpment through extensive LIDAR analysis, geologic and geomorphic site assessments. The project includes age dating of a variety of floodplain surfaces, sediment analysis and floodplain forest mapping. Multiple sites identified for early action will be the focus of future protection and restoration project development while the Middle Methow Reach Assessment is conducted. The Methow Restoration Council is involved in reviewing the projects progress. The final report is available as of June 2010.
