DESCRIPTION

Acquisition of the two targeted parcels was successful, which enabled the restoration efforts to proceed. A dike was removed, thus reconnecting side channels. The channel(s) were enhanced with step-pools and habitat improvement, providing refugia and resting areas for targeted fish. Restoration of alluvial fan function has increased spawning and rearing habitat. Setback fencing was installed to discourage entry into the restored area, increasing likelihood of long-term success of restoration vegetation. This project essentially completes restoration for Early Winters Creek.
