The Salmon Creek Riparian Restoration project is a private landowner effort designed to complement other planned fish recovery efforts on Salmon Creek by removing in-stream passage barriers, fish screens and diversions, and increasing native riparian plantings. The project was developed in coordination with WDFW, NRCS, and The Colville Tribes. The project will replace the existing irrigation diversion structures, 2 fish screens, and a breached concrete dam identified by resource agencies as passage barriers for fish. Construction of the new diversion intake and fish screens will be completed immediately following removal of the existing structures. Construction work within the Creek channel will include excavation of a cross channel trench for a subsurface infiltration pipe, and construction of a series of drop structures to reduce bed scour potential. The infiltration pipe will be bedded in crushed rock to serve as a sediment and fish screen. Following construction, the stream bed surface will be re-contoured to ensure channel stability and fish passage.
