DESCRIPTION
The scope of the project is the removal of an irrigation diversion structure located approximately ½ mile up the Twisp River from it's confluence with the Methow River, and reduction of the length of conveyance system necessary for irrigation water delivery. Saved water from efficiency improvements to the irrigation system may be deposited in the Methow River Basin Trust Water Rights Program (water bank), and re-allocated to projects with salmon and steelhead habitat improvements. Endangered Steelhead, threatened spring chinook, threatened bull trout, and other anadromous and resident salmonids will benefit from the improved passage conditions and improved stream flows. The project was recognized by technical and policy staff of the Yakama Indian Nation and WDFW as a candidate project for salmon and steelhead restoration. This project received first priority in the Methow River Basin, and third priority throughout all of Okanogan County.
