DESCRIPTION
This fish barrier is on a private forest land road on Starbird Creek, a tributary to Fisher Creek in the Skagit watershed. Correction of this barrier improved access to 7.12 miles of habitat for coho, steelhead and searun cutthroat trout. Two undersized and failing side by side culverts that had been impeding fish passage were replaced with a 50-foot long bridge. The larger structure allows adults to move freely upstream to preferred spawning areas and allows rearing juveniles to migrate upstream and downstream to find food and refuge during their early life stages.
