DESCRIPTION
The Skagit Fisheries Enhancement Group (SFEG) will correct the May fish barrier on EF Silver Creek, (local name), a tributary to Silver Creek, Friday Creek, Samish River in Skagit county. The culvert is considered a total barrier due to an 11% slope but fry were observed above the culvert. Correction of this barrier would improve access to 1.42 miles of habitat for coho, steelhead and searun cutthroat. SFEG conducted a habitat evaluation in the summer of 2012, documenting 2.3 miles of suitable habitat upstream. Several large pond/wetland complexs are also present up stream of the barrier, and would provide high quality rearing habitat for juvenile fish.
