DESCRIPTION
This project will employ an advanced strategy for restoring riparian areas. We will use larger (3 to 5 gallon up to 6' Ball & Burlap) stock for the majority of trees we will be planting. Shrub layer planting will be reduced, with the focus being placed on the vegetation layer that provides the most benefit - the tree layer. Research has shown that using these materials improves plant survival, reduces loss to competition, speeds canopy development, and reduces maintenance costs. We will provide site preparation, install trees, provide maintenance and conduct monitoring on approximately 3 acres of riparian corridor (1,300 linear feet of stream bank and 100' wide) on the south bank of the North Fork Stillaguamish Trafton River Ranch.
