DESCRIPTION
The City of Arlington bought the Hammer farm on the edge of town in 2000 to provide passive riverfront recreation opportunities and also have the ability in the future to construct a wetland to treat stormwater. The initial urban development of Arlington that occured between 1900 and the 1960's resulted in about 274 acres of urban development stormwater that goes directly to the Stillaguamish River. The City is voluntarily building the wetland to reduce the urban stormwater pollutants and flooding impacts. The Dept. of Ecology provided a $519,905 grant to assist with the construction. The parcel is in Snohomish County and will need to meet their permit requirements.
NOTES
March 2010 - The City received all permits in the fall of 2010, too late for construction in floodplain soils. Project will be built in 2011.
