DESCRIPTION
The Stilly-Snohomish Task Force (Task Force) completed design and implementation of a habitat enhancement project that improved fish passage, increased instream large wood habitat, and increased native riparian vegetation density along lower Canyon Creek on property owned by The Members Club at Aldarra golf course. To improve fish passage, a dam was notched following plans prepared by a staff engineer from a partner organization, King Conservation District. To enhance salmonid habitat, Task Force staff supervised placement of 31 pieces of large wood into 12 structures with support from a second partner organization, Adopt-A-Stream Foundation. Task Force staff also coordinated and supervised 255 volunteers in riparian buffer planting events that resulted in 7,145 plants along 2,000 feet of channel over 2.8 acres as well as initial maintenance and monitoring activities. Ongoing maintenance of riparian vegetation will occur for the next three years and monitoring of vegetation and channel morphology will continue over the next ten years.
