DESCRIPTION
The Jetty Island berm, originally constructed in 1990 with 323,000 cy of clean river sand, requires periodic renourishment with to maintain its integrity and to protect the productive depositional mudflat and fringing salt marsh in the lagoon formed by the berm. Renourishment most recently occurred in January/February 2007 and in February 2009. Next renourishment is planned for Winter 2012-13. Quantities of sediment placed for each renourishment is typically 20,000 to 40,000 cy.
