DESCRIPTION
Use clean dredged material to extend Jetty Island 3,200 ft to the south along the west side of the existing rock jetty. This project was begun in February 2007 with a 1000-foot extenstion of the island, using approx 60,000 cy of sand dredged from the lower settling basin. The planned 2009 - 2010 action will extend the island an additional 2,200 feet to the south and will add material to increase the width and elevation of the 2009 extension. Project is jointly funded by the Corps of Engineers and the Port of Everett. People for Puget Sound is doing project monitoring in cooperation with the Port and Pentec Environmental. This is an ongoing project, as new assessments of Jetty Island habitat needs are completed to determine locations to deposit additional dredged sand. For more information, please contact the Port of Everett.
