DESCRIPTION
As a continuation of Phases I and II, the Snoqualmie Tribe's restoration of Fall City Park's vital main river floodplain riparian habitat will restore the remaining 6+ acres at this location, extend the traditional knowledge trail, and continue the focus on plants traditionally used by the Snoqualmie people for food, medicine, and more. The project will be restoring areas currently dominated by Himalayan blackberry, Japanese knotweed, English ivy, English holly, bird cherry and more.
The Snoqualmie Tribe's ENR Department will work closely with the Tribes Cultural Department, language Department and Education Department to include Native plant Communities that were historically used for food and medicine by the Snoqualmie people. These native plants were not only part of a healthy ecosystem, but they were also part of a healthy traditional diet for the Snoqualmie people as well as an important part of tribal culture. The collaboration between departments will help us to make certain that this project is in line with Tribal Culture and priorities.
