DESCRIPTION
The King County Noxious Weed Control Program has been conducting control efforts on properties along Miller and Walker Creeks since 2005. This project targets weeds that are in areas that are difficult and dangerous for property owners to access and control themselves. The in-stream surveys being conducted will target policeman's helmet (Impatiens glandulifera), purple loosestrike (Lythrum salicaria), giant hogweed (Heracleum mantegazzianum) and invasive knotweeds (Polygonum spp). Areas will be identified and prioritized for future replanting. The reduction of noxious weeds along Miller and Walker creeks, and replanting of native plants will improve the riparian habitat and function for coho and chum salmon.
