NOTES
Concerns exist about toxics in the upstream portion of the Big Gulch system. The headwaters of Big Gulch Creek drain the western portion of Paine Field Airport. Chemical spills in the vicinity of Paine Field in 1993, 1996, and 2000 resulted in downstream fish kills. Concerns were also raised about drainage problems upstream that could complicate the project. It was recommended that the project be coordinated with the next project if it is done.

Update:
Big Gulch stream has been repaired from Harbour Pointe Blvd. to approximately 52nd Avenue W - or approximately a half a mile down stream. Work included adding large woody debris, stream bed gravel, creations of resting pools, and in some places rechanneled. This work has been done coorportatively with the City of Mukilteo, the Mukilteo Water and Sewer District and the Dept of Fish and Wildlife. A high-flow storm water by-pass has also been installed in this reach of the the Gulch to take the high flow storm events out of the stream and maintain stream flows for fish passage.

12/2009:
This project has been put on hold due to budget constraints.
