DESCRIPTION
Enhance riparian conditions on both sides of the river. Enhancement should occur through planting native vegetation and conducting ecological thinning to advance the seral stage of the riparian forest to provide improved wood recruitment, riparian food sources, and cover.
NOTES
Ecological thinning is poorly understood by the environmental community, although it is an important action for encouraging the development of large trees in areas that have been previously logged and are dominated by dense, young forest stands. Benefits for Chinook from riparian enhancements would increase over time as the vegetation grows/matures.
