DESCRIPTION
Chinook Beach Park (Formerly named Rainier Beach Lake Park): Removal of marina and bulkhead, regrading the shoreline to a gentle slope, and placing fine-grained substrate. Remove invasive vegetation and add native overhanging vegetation. Protect existing high quality shoreline habitat in park. From Seattle Shoreline Park Inventory and Habitat Assessment. Original shoreline restoration completed in 2006. Additional invasive plant removal and native planting work schedule for summer 2008. Update 12/2009: Approximately 270 ft of upland area adjacent to Lake Washington was replanted with native vegetation. Invasive Black locust, clematis, and Himalayan blackberry was removed. A total of approximately 1,150 native plants including ferns, ground cover, shrubs, and trees were planted. The project was funded through the 2008 Parks and Green Spaces levy. 6/2013: 2013 project will re-anchor LWD along the shoreline and replenish gravels on the beach
