DESCRIPTION
Changes 3/19/09: Add restoration work phase and change name (above). Former name: Cedar Grove - Rainbow Bend Mobile Home Park Flood Buyout. Plan description: Cedar Grove Mobile Home Park Flood Buyout and Levee Removal: Purchase mobile home property and relocate approximately 55 mobile homes; purchase and remove 9 single-family homes, and restore ~40 acres of floodplain area with riparian vegetation and off-chanel features. King County Flood District CIP 2008-2009 Acquisition Note 3/4/09: The 20 a. mobile home park was purchased by KC in the summer of '08. 20 a. of private parcels adjacent to the mobile home park were purchased with FEMA flood funds throughout '07 and '08. Restoration Note 3/4/09: A levy removal is planned at this site and restoration design is just beginning on this. Historic channel enhancement and reconnetion, side channel reconnection with river and groundwater connections are being explored. Restoration note 4/4/13: King County and Seattle Public Utilities are collaborating on an extensive levee removal/floodplain reconnection project that will be constructed during summer 2013. 6/2013: Acquisition complete and restoration underway.
