DESCRIPTION

This project is phase 2 of a previous culvert removal project in which a culvert in Gold Creek was removed & replaced with a shorter concrete box culvert with a bottom of natural stream gravels. Phase 1 was funded under another grant source. This phase 2 project will regrade the streambed of Gold Creek from the replaced culvert downstream to the Sammamish River (approx. 120 feet) into a series of step pools to allow fish passage during low flows. The banks (both sides) of the newly-regraded reach of channel will be sloped back and planted with native riparian species. The right bank of the Sammamish River will be regraded for approx 100 ft upstream & downstream of the confluence with the creek to create an off channel bench, approx 20 ft wide, for fish to hold during high flow periods, & to further enhance the migration corridor for all salmonid life stages. The bench will be revegetated with native riparian species.
