DESCRIPTION
The purpose of this report is to provide a basic description of the creek and known salmonid
habitat concerns within the Project site, describe the geomorphic processes in areas of degraded
habitat, and recommend potential restoration concepts for enhancing critical habitat for
salmonids. The scope of the present study is limited to findings from a rapid geomorphic
assessment – a reconnaissance-level investigation of the stream corridor based on synthesis of
existing information and analyses of the study reach in a geographic information system (GIS).
The rapid geomorphic assessment is a preliminary investigation used to identify key
opportunities, constraints, and information requirements that can provide guidance for a detailed,
complete investigation in the future. In addition, the primary areas under consideration for
restoration action were the parcels presently owned by Pierce County.
