DESCRIPTION
This is a setback revetment behind an existing stormwater pond to increase off channel habitat on the lower White River mainstem by an additional 2.67 acres of riparian and off-channel habitat for salmonids. Above Ordinary High Water Mark (OHWM), a planted bench will be constructed in the revetment to promote riparian growth between the new trail and the newly created off-channel salmonid habitat. Modeling will determine the best location for inlet and outlet breaches of the existing revetment structure to prevent scour or aggradation. The existing revetment will be reduced to above OHWM and planted to provide for additional riparian habitat while leaving the existing vegetation in place, and allowing for overtopping during flood events. Wood features will be installed in the new channel for additional habitat. The upstream tie in will fall in line with the future City of Sumner setback planning efforts. The trail is the Sumner Link Trail which will be topped with pervious asphalt and signage will be placed for project awareness.
