DESCRIPTION

The City of Puyallup's Clarks Creek Riparian Planting project resulted in habitat and water quality improvements to Clarks Creek. The project relocated an existing impervious gravel maintenance road within Clarks Creek Park away from the creek, replacing it with a pervious gravel road, amended soils and planted 0.4 acres between the new road and the creek. A split rail fence was installed to protect the newly restored area from casual park users.

The project replaced 8,000 square feet of pervious road/path with a pervious surface, amended soils and planted 17,000 square feet of riparian habitat along a salmon bearing portion of Clarks Creek.

Improved riparian habitat along Clarks Creek has been identified as one of the solutions to water quality issues in the creek in TMDL's.
