The Land Trust proposes to pursue permanent protection of 34.4 acres containing 0.32 miles of Ohop Creek shoreline and 9 acres in the Ohop Valley. This property is immediately downstream of the Ohop Valley Extension Road bridge that crosses the creek. The remainder of the property contains steep slopes with seeps, springs and three small slot canyons that contribute flow to Ohop Creek. Much of the slopes contain wetland vegetation, including skunk cabbage in many locations. Most of the property is zoned rural 10; however, the southwest corner of the property is zoned moderate density single family residential.This project focuses on an acquisition to support salmon recovery partner efforts to enhance and restore in-stream, riparian and floodplain habitats along this reach of Ohop Creek. Permanent protection and habitat restoration will benefit Chinook, steelhead, chum, coho, and pink salmon.
