DESCRIPTION
The Nisqually Land Trust acquired and permanently protected 202 acres near Eatonville in the Ohop Creek watershed including wetlands, riparian forest, lake shoreline, and forested uplands. The property contains more than three miles of shoreline along Ohop Creek and its tributaries, key habitat for salmon and trout in the Nisqually River Watershed. Floodplain and riparian restoration activities were started to control patches of invasive reed canary grass and plant native trees and shrubs in the valley. Ohop Creek and its tributaries are spawning and rearing habitat for coho salmon, threated Chinook salmon and steelhead trout, spawning habitat for pink salmon, and utilized by Pacific lamprey.
