DESCRIPTION
Analysis of juvenile and adult Chinook salmon otoliths (bone-like inner ear structures that have daily growth rings that can be analyzed) allows us to estimate fish residency and growth rates in different habitat zones (fresh water, estuary, etc.). This allows us to track how the fish are using the habitat and to monitor changes in their growth, habitat use, and survival patterns following major restoration and stock management changes. The associated cost estimate is what would be needed to run the program for 4 years time.
