DESCRIPTION
Nisqually Land Trust used this funding to purchase 55.0 acres along the Whitewater Reach of the Nisqually River downstream of McKenna in Thurston County. This acquisition is adjacent to the already protected Mosman shoreline and extends the protected shoreline by approximately 3000 feet (just over 1/2 mile). The small house on the property was excepted out on a 5 acre parcel. The shoreline habitat of this property is low to moderate bank, with a heavy growth of older mixed species timber. There is an unnamed tributary stream on the southern portion of the property and numerous wetlands on site. The habitat values of the property were under substantial threat prior to acquisition. Chinook salmon and other salmonids use this stretch of the river.
