DESCRIPTION
Nisqually Land Trust used this funding to purchase and permanently protect almost 19 acres on the mainstem Nisqually River (WRIA 11) with approximately 1,200 feet of river frontage. This parcel is adjacent to other Land Trust ownership. The property is primarily pasture with excellent potential for habitat restoration that will facilitate improvement of natural salmon production of the mainstem Nisqually. This acquisition primarily benefits Chinook salmon and steelhead, both species that depend on the mainstem for spawning and rearing. The project was supported by the Nisqually River Council and the Nisqually Indian Tribe.
