DESCRIPTION

The project sponsor was Kitsap County Public Works and the location is on lower Steele Creek, which flows to Port Orchard on the western side of Bainbridge Island. Project activities included design, land acquisition and construction to realign and restore the South Fork of Steele Creek with a meandering stream channel. Coho, chum salmon and sea-run cutthroat trout are the target species for passage. Total project cost was approximately $1,600,000.
