DESCRIPTION
The Neagle property is located within the Dogfish Creek watershed. Salmon habitat restoration at this site, encompassing an area of 0.67 acres with 338 feet of stream, has successfully removed Himalayan blackberries, Morning glory, and other invasive species, as well as the installed Large Woody Debris (LWD) along the streambanks and 11 yards of gravel on the streambed.
Removal of noxious weeds will help clear the way for native plantings done by the Conservation District back in 2002 and plantings that will be carried out during the restoration project. Installation of root wads with 10 feet of the trunk attached to it will help enhance channel complexity by creating pools, which aquatic life use as habitat. Newly added gravel created a streambed that is more suitable for anadromous fish species to use for spawning.
