DESCRIPTION
The project site is adjacent to the Cowling Creek Forest preserve. This project successfully enhanced 0.2 acres of critical area, and 350 feet of Cowling Creek. The stream was incised and lacked LWD as well as spawning gravel. This project removed fill next to an old culvert, regraded the slope 3:1, revegetated the stream banks with native plants, installed LWD and gravel in the instream habitat, and reconnected the stream with its historic floodplain.
