DESCRIPTION
This project was designed to protect +/- 6.5 acres (fee-simple) of a coastal inlet estuary at the head of Rocky Bay, Case Inlet, Pierce County. The Rocky Bay estuary is in near reference condition and is a high regional and local priority, benefiting multiple species of salmon including ESA listed chinook and steelhead; summer and fall run chum; coho and cutthroat. Unfortunately, Great Peninsula Conservancy (GPC) was not able to move forward with acquisition efforts of the target parcels for this project.Property acquisition was prevented due the unwillingness of the current landowners to move forward. The appraised valuation of the parcels targeted for acquisition proved to be the determining factor. Great Peninsula Conservancy would like to thank RCO for the opportunity to advance conservation efforts within the Rocky Bay Estuary. We look forward to partnering on future opportunities for salmon habitat preservation in the area.In an effort to advance this project to closing, GPC completed due diligence tasks, title work, appraisal & review appraisal.
