DESCRIPTION
Northwest Straits Foundation proposes to restore between 100 and 200 linear feet of nearshore habitat benefiting forage fish, migrating juvenile salmonids and other nearshore species with additional benefits to down-drift habitats resulting from armor removal along the toe of a feeder bluff. Creosote and untreated piles and large armor rock will be removed from the site including several large rock groins. Most of these materials are currently located below MHHW burying potential forage fish spawning habitat and disrupting sediment transport and deposition. the upland of the site(s) will have invasive vegetation removed and native vegetation installed, creating a riparian buffer which will provide additional slope stability for infrastructure on the properties while providing greater connection between the nearshore and uplands.
