DESCRIPTION
This is a design-build project to replace culvert #899 under Barnum Rd. This culvert was identified as needing to be replaced, based on the 2014 Island County Fish Passage Barrier Inventory. This habitat potential ranking for this culvert was identified as the 12th ranked culvert in Geographic Area 1 for Priority Index (WDFW habitat value). But the critical condition of this culvert increases its overall priority for replacement and provides an example of a multi-benefit project. Potential habitat gain was calculated to be 1143 meters of stream and 5528 sq.meters of rearing habitat. The fish species likely to use the stream include coho, cutthroat and resident trout.
