This project will permanently protect an additional 7.4 acres of wetland, riparian and upland habitat on lower Kristoferson Creek adjacent to the south boundary of the 2.5 acre property owned by Island County, thus protecting a total of 10 acres of excellent fish and wildlife habitat. The Kristoferson Creek watershed, the second largest drainage on Camano, has the Island's only chum salmon run. Estuaries with a supportive creek system, such as Kristoferson Creek, contribute the greatest amount of biodiversity for all wildlife species, including resident and anadromous fish populations.
