DESCRIPTION
Responding to Clinton's critical need for public access to Puget Sound, the Port District of South Whidbey Island recently acquired a long-term commercial property with 180 feet of sandy no-bank beach for creation of the Clinton Beach Park.

The Berger Partnership (TBP) provided schematic design and project oversight for beach improvements for a small park adjacent to the Whidbey Island ferry terminal, which included the removal of invasive plants, planting native/adaptive species, and restorative plantings along the beach. Low-maintenance EcoTurf, permeable paving, a bio-swale and new bathroom facilities using passive solar energy are planned. A new picnic structure with an extensive green roof will be constructed by students in the South Seattle Community College carpentry program
