Until 2019, the objective of the aerial and underwater videography segments of this project was to measure the area of eelgrass coverage in selected regions of Island County shoreline. The regions selected include Holmes Harbor, Penn Cove and Cornet Bay. Sites were selected from Department of Natural Resource (DNR) sites. DNR provided the random transect point coordinates that were used to navigate during our underwater video data collection. Data collected from both aerial and underwater videography were combined in GIS maps to provide a more complete view of these efforts. Data was submitted to DNR once analyzed. Sites include: Utsalady, Skagit Bay, Oak Harbor Bay, Penn Cove, Holmes Harbor, Cornet and Maxwelton. From 2020 on, aerial photography of the entire Island County shoreline is taken by plane and submitted to DNR.
