These 149 acres of fresh water wetlands east of Crockett Lake contribute to the lake system's overall complexity. Crockett Lake is along the Pacific Flyway and is identified as an Island County critical habitat area, an Important Bird Area by Audubon Society, and an International Shorebird Survey site. The entire lake system is made up of diverse and complex habitats within close proximity to each other that offer direct and indirect benefits many different wildlife species, including more than 238 documented bird species.
