DESCRIPTION
For the last 5 years, FRIENDS has been working collaboratively to understand the causes and extent of eelgrass habitat declines in the San Juans. Our findings have resulted in significant state and federal agency action. While research partners are conducting eelgrass transplant and biological studies of Westcott Bay, FRIENDS will complete underwater video monitoring of 2 priority embayments, Westcott Bay and Garrison Bay. FRIENDS will also apply research results to improved habitat protection.
