DESCRIPTION
For the last five years, FRIENDS has been working with shoreline property owners and local, state and federal agencies to identify where priority nearshore species and habitats occur and where protection and restoration actions are needed. The Soft Shore Restoration Blueprint identified 60 priority feasible restoration and enhancement opportunities, 19 along predominantly county-owned roads and 31 at private property sites. Further outreach and project cultivation with identified public and private property owners, development of initial restoration plans, scoping for permitting and requests for funding are the next steps to move these priority projects towards implementation.
