San Juan County Land Bank took title from DNR of the 30 acre parcel in 2013. Acquisition funded via the Trust Land Transfer Program.

The Cormorant Bay property is an undeveloped property loctated on Orcas Island formerly owned by DNR containing 30 acres of forested riparian habitat with 1500 feet of shoreline on President Channel. The property is in the highest priority salmon recovery area in the San Juans for protection actions. Under the Trust Land Transfer Program the San Juan County Land Bank will take title from DNR of the Cormorant Bay 30 acre parcel which includes 1500 feet of shoreline. The property is adjacent to the President Channel Shoreline Acquisition previously funded via PSAR in 2012. The property will be added to the President Channel Preserve which protects over 50 acres of forested undeveloped property with 6,000 feet of shoreline including numerous pocket beaches.
