DESCRIPTION
Port Angeles Harbor and its tributaries began to deteriorate in the late 1800's with development of the shoreline, followed by fill, channelization and armoring. The goals of this multi-year, multi-phase project are to conserve and restore salmonid habitat in Port Angeles Harbor and associated nearshore and tributaries by the following actions; fill removal, armor removal, overwater structure removal, culvert/barrier removal, floodplain reconnection, creosote piling removal, estuary restoration, intertidal and subtidal habitat restoration and habitat protection. Shorelines and floodplains will be re-contoured to soften the interface of land and water and the marine riparian zone will be re-vegetated.
