Dungeness Bay Shoreline Restoration. The project site encompasses the entirety of the shoreline and marine riparian corridor of Dungeness Bay. The goal of this multi-phase project is to work with willing landowners to restore and permanently conserve ecological processes and salmon habitat throughout the nearshore environment of Dungeness Bay. The flagship project of this workplan entry is restoring Cline Spit to pre-disturbance conditions. Specific actions will include removing dikes, armoring, bulkheads, fill, septic systems, buildings, and overwater structures. Project sponsors will recreate historical nearshore features such as lagoons and tidal channels. This project will repair habitat sustaining shoreline processes and improve migration and survival of juvenile salmon, especially Dungeness Chinook, Dungeness fall chum, and JCL summer chum. The project is also crucial for supporting the upcoming Dungeness River summer chum stock recovery program. This project will also improve water quality within Dungeness Bay by removing toxic creosoted pilings and septic systems.
