DESCRIPTION
The project will design and implement the construction of approximately 25-30 engineered log jams (ELJs) between Hoko RM 3.75 and 5.25 Restoration will also include excavation of floodplain and side channels to increase floodplain engagement and to encourage side channel activation. The project will reconnect ~46 acres of Hoko River floodplain. The project will also result in the restoration of RM 0 to RM 0.8 of Ossert Creek, a tributary to the Hoko River that joins the Hoko River at RM 4.75 within the Upper Cowan project reach. The project is designed to benefit salmonid populations within the Hoko River through improvement of floodplain connectivity, the reduction of bed scour, and the reversal of channel simplification and incision that has resulted from the absence of large wood
The project will design and implement the construction of approximately 25-30 engineered log jams (ELJs) between Hoko RM 4.0 and 5.2. Restoration will also include excavation of floodplain and side channels to increase floodplain engagement and to encourage side channel activation. The project will reconnect ~46 acres of Hoko River floodplain. The project is designed to benefit salmonid populations within the Hoko River through the reduction of bed scour and reversal of channel simplification that has resulted from the absence of large wood within the system.
