DESCRIPTION
There were two total barrier crossings on a tributary to Field Creek. The upstream culvert was a 1.22 CST pipe that was a barrier due to excessive slope and an outfall drop at the downstream end. The second crossing was a .61 CAL culvert that was a barrier due to slope and hydraulic drop as well. The upstream crossing was replaced with an 18 foot wide by 9 foot high, 56 foot long steel arched culvert. The downstream crossing was replaced with a 40 foot long by 14 foot wide steel bridge. This small tributary to Field Creek eventually drains into the Strait of Juan de Fuca and is utilized by residet trout as well as coho, steelhead, and searun cutthroat trout. WDFW has completed a full physiacl survey and has determined there are three barriers downstream (one a total barrier 0.39mi downstream) and 5 barriers upstream four of which are total barriers. The first total barrier is 570 m (0.35mi) upstream. There is a 1.8m (6ft) drop near the confluence with Field Creek but juvenile salmonids were observed above this drop.
