DESCRIPTION
This project is a design-build proposal that is modeled and expands upon previous restoration and mitigation projects constructed on the southern shore of Ediz Hook in the last decade. Phase 1 included restoration of 1500' of beach along central Ediz Hook as mitigation for the Port Angeles Graving Yard project. Phase 2 was the restoration of an adjacent (east) 900' of beach at the former 'A-Frame' log dump site. Phase 3 included 3,200' of beach nourishment and dune grass restoration immediately to the east of the A Frame site. Phase 4 includes restoration in the vicinity of the Port Angeles Boat Launch conducted by the Navy as mitigation and scheduled for 2018. In this phase 5 proposal, we propose to remove armor, relocate an overwater structure, conduct beach nourishment and conduct dune grass restoration along a 2,200' reach of the southern shore of Ediz Hook immediately to the west of the phase 1 restoration site. It is anticipated that engineering design principles from the recently completed phase 1-3 restoration projects could be directly applied to the areas proposed for future restoration on Ediz Hook.
