DESCRIPTION
To meet our goals of decreasing sediment inputs and restoring natural hydrology to a system, it is important to not only decommission roads with high or medium aquatic risk but also to stabilize and maintain roads scheduled to remain in the transportation system. This project was identified to reaffirm the importance of long-term maintenance of both public and private road systems in meeting our salmon recovery, water quality and human safety needs. Actions include installing water bars on roadways, stabilizing culvert outlets and ditch bottoms, and installing additional relief pipes, among others.
