DESCRIPTION
Develop designs to use a combination of LWD placement and channel manipulation to reconnect over 1KM of disconnected floodplain channel in the Duckabush River.
This project will develop preliminary-level engineering designs to use a combination of large woody debris placement and channel manipulation to reconnect over 1KM of disconnected floodplain channel in the Duckabush River. The project aims to restore the channel in the project reach to a Stage 0 channel condition, which is a multi-threaded, complex channel that is connected to its floodplain even during base flow conditions. The project is located in Olympic National Forest, just upstream of the Collins Campground, in the last alluvial reach of the Duckabush before the barrier to anadromous salmon. The reach is used by a number of salmonid species, including ESA listed Chinook salmon and steelhead.
