DESCRIPTION
North Olympic Salmon Coalition and Jefferson Land Trust are working together to protect a ~43 acre riparian and uplands of 70-acres with nearly 2,600 feet of Snow Creek mainstem habitat and two tributaries. Protection of this area from timber harvest, development and agricultural activities will allow for restoration activities that address bank incision issues and sedimentation processes; placement of woody debris and replanting and enhancement of buffers. The design portion of this project will require modeling of localized hydraulic and sediment processes throughout this reach to design for the suitable placement, size and quantity of LWD structures with the goal of reducing incision and increasing floodplain connectivity.
