DESCRIPTION
The Mason Conservation District will implement this instream habitat restoration project on the Mainstem Skokomish River between river miles 4.1 and 6.1. This project will improve instream habitat conditions throughout the 2 mile long reach by installing 39 LWD structures to provide fish refuge and facilitate sediment storage, sediment processing, normative channel patterns, instream habitat complexity, and stable vegetated islands (where appropriate). This project will benefit listed Chinook, Hood Canal Summer Chum, Steelhead, and bull trout, as well as Coho and Cutthroat trout. This proposal represents phase 2 of this effort. Phase 1 (final design) is currently underway (PRISM # 15-1205).
