DESCRIPTION
Seabeck Creek is and Intensively Monitored Watershed (IMW) that has been impacted by development. Currently there are three properties for sale on the mouth of Seabeck Creek that extend into the tidelands of Seabeck Bay. Seabeck Bay is identified as a high potential coastal inlet protection site in the Puget Sound Nearshore Ecosystem Restoration Project (PSNERP) in Puget Sound. This project seeks to acquire these properties to protect from further development and restore lower Seabeck Creek and associated estuarine nearshore habitats.
Seabeck Creek is an Intensively Monitored Watershed (IMW) in the Hood Canal complex that has been impacted by development throughout the watershed. This project seeks to acquire one parcel and buy a conservation easement on the other to protect from further development and restore lower Seabeck Creek and associated freshwater and estuarine habitats. This acquisition and restoration project has been identified as the top priority restoration action for Seabeck Creek by the Hood Canal IMW program due to its position low in the watershed and likelihood of improving fish passage to upstream habitats, the concentration of fish use in lower stream, the high value of the habitat acquisition area for spawning, egg incubation, and rearing, and the threat to existing salmon habitat posed by future development of the property.
