DESCRIPTION
Jefferson Land Trust used this grant to acquire 26.75 acres to protect salmonid habitat and replanting within the project area. The project is located in Jefferson County, adjacent to Donovan Creek, just north of East Quilcene Road. The acquisition helps conserve the ecological integrity and biological diversity of the Donovan Creek watershed by protecting parcels containing critical habitats, both riparian and wetlands. The primary habitat protected is riparian and in-stream habitat and wetlands. Most of the riparian areas Have been restored under separate efforts by remeandering Donovan Creek back to its original channel and conducting riparian and wetlands plantings. The primary species supported by these habitat are Endangered Species Act listed anadrmous fish including Chinook, chum and steelhead as well as coho and pink.
